What this journey achieves

Over a semester a class accumulates tasks and marks. At the end, each student gets a report with a section for each class. This journey follows the work from the first task a teacher sets to the report a family reads.

Teachers set tasks, enter marks and write the comments on their classes. A head of department, a role a school composes for itself, reviews the department's tasks. The principal and executive, who hold the right to publish reports, open the period's reports and start the sign-off, and the last step sends each report home. Families read the published report in the portal.

The steps in order

  1. IT

Under Settings, Assessment, open Reporting periods and choose "Add a period". Give the name, the campus if there is more than one, the year levels, "Starts", "Ends" and when "Reports go home", then "Save the period".

  2. Teacher

Open the class's markbook and choose "Set a task". Give the code, the task, its category and purpose, the due date and the weight.

  3. Teacher

Open the task and enter a result for each student, then choose "Save the marks". A teacher who owes marks reads the task on the home page and opens it from there.

  4. Teacher

A head of department reads Department tasks, filtered to one department, to see which tasks are set, by whom, and how far they are marked.

  5. Principal and executive

Open Reporting and choose the period. Choose "Open the reports" and pick the "Template". Kestrel opens one report for each student in the period's year levels, with a section for each class.

  6. Teacher

Open each report and choose a section to "Write this section": an achievement grade, an effort grade and a comment. Choose "Save the section".

    /app/assessment/reports/[id]3.7 Assessment and reports

  7. Principal and executive

Once each section is written, choose "Start the sign-off". The chain the school set up takes the report from there and its last step sends it home. The period's page lists each report's step and standing.

  8. Families

The parent opens the child's page in the portal and reads the report under Reports.

Things to watch for

What happens next

Results build into the student's transcript, and the reporting library can run a table such as results by class and task. A student who leaves takes the transcript with them, as described in the leaving journey.
